BT goes back to mobiles
A smartphone offered as part of a £23.99 per month broadband deal will signal BT's return to the mobile market.
The BT ToGo handset could well appeal to consumers weighing up whether to buy an iPhone or a BlackBerry.
It allows customers to browse the internet and make calls and the device is clever enough to switch between the internet and its mobile network depending on where the user is.
So how does this work? The ToGo will run off BT's home hub broadband inside the home, while using the group’s WiFi zones and its Vodafone mobile network when out and about.
Made by top-end of the market manufacturer HTC, the ToGo also allows users to make cheap VoIP calls over the internet.
John Petter, managing director of BT's consumer division, said: "Communications services are converging, and it is clear that customers want consistent access to the things that matter not only at home, but in the palm of their hands wherever they are."
