Blackberry opens the door to Windows Live apps
BlackBerry smartphones will soon get Windows Live Messenger and Hotmail.
RIM, the manufacturers of the handset, and Microsoft have teamed up to make it possible to integrate the free email and instant-messaging services with the BlackBerry platform's push email and presence capabilities.
Mark Guibert, vice president of corporate marketing at RIM said: "The BlackBerry platform is respected around the world for providing optimised messaging capabilities and RIM continues to look for ways to provide customers with a wide range of communications options and the best possible mobile experience."
Customers will have access to either application by entering their address and password on their BlackBerry.
The service is expected to be available this summer with support for multiple languages.
The move is proof of how RIM is trying to market the BlackBerry as a versatile phone that can help people enjoy their leisure life rather than as just a business tool for busy executives.
Social network site MySpace was also made available on the smartphone recently.
