Playboy releases shocking pink mobile
A shocking pink phone is the latest piece of merchandising to be marketed by the Playboy empire.
Playboy will hope that its brand name will help sell the device which carries the infamous head of a bunny with a tuxedo bow tie near its keypad. Made by Alcatel the handset has a 1.3 megapixel camera and 10MB of internal memory for the media player. The phone is also available in gold and silver to offer consumers further options. Playboy is a monthly magazine, and the first issue came out in 1953 with Marilyn Monroe being the first centrefold. It currently has a circulation of over three million and carries interviews with high profile figures and over the years has featured short fiction by the likes of Ian Fleming and Margaret Atwood. The colourful life of the magazine's founder Hugh Hefner has helped popularise the brand, something which should ensure the phone enjoys respectable sales.
