Rumours link O2 with mobile TV service
Mobile TV broadcast service MediaFLO is rumoured to be attracting interest from O2.
The Financial Times has reported that the BBC and O2 are both keen to talk to MediaFLO's owner Qualcomm about a possible launch of the service in the UK.
US-based Qualcomm has just shelled out over £8 million to purchase L-band radio spectrum to launch innovative wireless services. It is understood that mobile TV is the company's top priority.
After a successful collaboration with BSkyB last year, Qualcomm is receptive to offers from new partners.
An O2 spokesman told the FT: "MediaFLO is a technology well-suited to providing TV to mobiles.
"As always, it's about having a good range of handsets and getting the customer experience right."
Qualcomm is optimistic that MediaFLO will be rolled out in Europe soon.
Industry analysts predict that mobile TV will generate a greater share of revenue for telecoms firms in the coming years.
