T Mobile launches Nokia Xpress Music phone

T Mobile launches Nokia Xpress Music phone Bloggers have been giving some fairly mixed reviews to the Nokia 5610 XpressMusic phone, which has just been launched on the T-Mobile network

Nokia released another mobile, the 5310, in May and it seems that the new 5610 might be suffering from being in the shadow of this phone, which received the thumbs up from many reviewers.

The editor of CNET.com still gave the 5610 a rating of eight out of ten despite reservations about some of its features.

He reported that the XpressMusic's navigation toggle was "stiff and its keypad was slippery". It was also noted that the slot for the memory card "is in an inconvenient location" and the functionality of the camera is "limited when using the flash".

The good seemed to easily outweigh the bad though and the product summary highlighted that the Nokia 5610 XpressMusic "offers a satisfying music-centric feature set and admirable performance".

The design was described as "well-constructed and easy to use, and it offers a brilliant display".

So what is unique about the Nokia 5610 XpressMusic?

Those who like it think that it offers a nice higher-end alternative to the Nokia 5310 with a more eye-catching 'look at me' design and upgraded features.

infoSync Reviews were rather less satisfied with the new product.

The infoSync reviewer declared that the 5610 can't measure up to the "better design" of the 5310, which is available at "half the price".

Acknowledging that the new model has an improved camera and superior memory (2GB) to its in-house rival, the gadget experts complained that the new phone lacks the 5310's 3.5mm headphone jack, "which let us use any headphones we had on hand", and its "up-front controls that start playing music as soon as you press the button".

The team behind the XpressMusic can console themselves with infoSync's conclusion that "they're both good phones".

Surely the price is dependent upon which contract you get or whether it's pay as you go?
