iPhone overtakes Motorola
A new survey claims that Apple's iPhone has nicked the position of the world's third most popular smart phone from Motorola.According to market analysts Canalys, Nokia is still the company to beat with a whopping 52.9 per cent share of the market. RIM - the manufacturer of the BlackBerry - is far behind with 11 per cent. But beneath the top two there seems to have been a changing of the guard. Canalys has Motorola losing half a percentage point: enough to let rivals Apple overtake on 6.5 per cent. In the US, the success of the iPhone is even more pronounced in boosting Apple's results. Apple has a 28 per cent share of the American mobile pie - still far behind Blackberry's portion (41 per cent). The winds of change are also being felt in Europe, with the survey claiming that Apple is now in fifth place, ahead of more established vendors such as Sony Ericsson, Palm and Samsung. Since the iconic iPhone's release, its manufacturers have kept sales figures a closely-guarded secret - but with results like this it could become more open about its success very soon. iPhone News posted on 08/02/2008 17:00:31 CommentsReply OKOMG.Comment posted by Anonymous on 09/02/2008 21:00:00 Reply Re:OKThanks very much, bro.Comment posted by Kegansj on 24/03/2008 14:59:00 Reply Re:OKI am going to show this to my friend, guy.Comment posted by Davidco on 05/04/2008 22:28:00 Reply Please show the facts - the market share of each companyCan anybody show the numbers of cell phones in the market to show that Apple has shipped more phones than Motorola?
